Pursuing excellence in the use of prescribed medicines

BNF publications are widely regarded as the 'gold standard' for information on prescribed medicines. As well as the BNF and BNF for Children, the editorial team is responsible for the Nurse Prescribers' Formulary. The team also constructs continuing professional development and education materials and participates in the work of several national guideline providers

Following internal promotions and the expansion of BNF publications, we are looking for clinical pharmacists who have:

  • a passion for advancing prescribing excellence;
  • broad experience in clinical pharmacy, preferably with relevant higher qualifications;
  • excellent written and spoken communication skills;
  • a good understanding of drug therapy in the UK healthcare environment;
  • the self-discipline to meet tight deadlines and contribute to team success;
  • the skills and enthusiasm to turn new information into authoritative clinical advice;
  • the intellectual rigour and ability to critically appraise information;
  • the confidence to be innovative and to take on fresh challenges.

Leading the development of specific publication content for the BNF and BNF for Children, the successful candidate will work alongside highly experienced members of the BNF editorial team to evaluate new and existing evidence and obtain the informed opinion of clinical experts to develop the content of the BNF publications. Formal editorial skills are not required but would be advantageous.
